Ingredients

Fresh Citrus Base
  • 2 medium limes cut into wedges
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar or simple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
Mint Flavor
  • 18 –20 fresh mint leaves plus extra for garnish
  • For the Drink
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 1 cup chilled club soda or sparkling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • Lime slices for garnish

Method

  1. Add lime wedges and sugar to a sturdy glass or pitcher, then muddle gently for about 1 minute until the limes release juice and the sugar begins dissolving.
  2. Add fresh mint leaves and lightly press them to release aromatic oils without shredding the leaves completely, which helps maintain a smooth flavor.
  3. Pour in fresh lime juice and cold water, then stir thoroughly until the sugar dissolves evenly throughout the mixture.
  4. Fill serving glasses almost completely with ice cubes because plenty of ice keeps the drink cold and slows dilution.
  5. Pour chilled club soda into each glass and stir gently so the drink stays fizzy and refreshing instead of losing carbonation too quickly.
  6. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and lime slices, then serve immediately while the bubbles and mint aroma are at their freshest.

Notes

  • Always use fresh mint and fresh lime juice because they create a cleaner and brighter flavor than dried herbs or bottled citrus juice.
  • Chill your glasses before serving if possible because cold glasses help the mojito stay refreshing longer during warm weather.
  • Stir the drink gently after adding soda so you preserve carbonation and maintain the classic fizzy texture.
  • If serving guests, prepare the mint and lime base ahead of time and add soda only at the last minute to keep every serving fresh
