Total Time 35 minutes
Servings: 18 Meatballs

Ingredients

For the Chicken Meatballs
  • 500g ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or panko)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
For Cooking
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
Optional Sauce (Simple Tomato Sauce)
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, onion, parsley, and spices. Mix gently until just combined to maintain a soft texture.
  2. Shape the mixture into small, even-sized meatballs to ensure they cook evenly and retain their structure.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat until it shimmers, ensuring proper browning during cooking.
  4. Cook the meatballs in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and fully cooked through.
  5. Add tomato sauce if desired and simmer briefly to enhance flavor and moisture.
  6. Let the meatballs rest before serving to keep them juicy and tender.

Notes

  • Mixing gently is essential because overworking the meat can make the meatballs dense instead of light and tender.
  • Chilling the mixture briefly helps firm it up, making shaping easier and improving the final texture.
  • Cooking in batches prevents overcrowding, which allows each meatball to brown properly and develop flavor.
  • Letting the meatballs rest after cooking helps retain juices, ensuring every bite stays moist and flavorful.
