Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Butter and Sugar Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar packed
Flavor and Binding
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Chocolate and Texture
  • 2 cups chocolate chips semi-sweet
  • ½ cup walnuts or pecans (optional) chopped

Method
 

  1. Cream softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt separately, then mix into the wet ingredients.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts.
  5. Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes until the edges are golden.

Notes

  • Use room-temperature ingredients for smoother dough.
  • Do not overmix the batter once flour is added.
  • Chill dough if cookies spread too quickly.
  • Slightly underbake for softer cookies.
  • Press extra chocolate chips on top before baking for a bakery look.
