Ingredients

For the Ground Beef
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 finely chopped small onion
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 oregano dried
  • salt and paper to taste
For the Bowl Base
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup corn kernels
Fresh Toppings
  • shredded lettuce
  • diced tomatoes or pico de gallo
  • sliced avocado or guacamole
  • shredded cheddar or Mexican-blend cheese
  • sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • fresh cilantro
  • lime wedges

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook onion until soft, then add garlic and cook briefly.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking into small pieces. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer a few minutes to develop flavor.
  4. Warm rice, black beans, and corn separately.
  5. Assemble bowls: add rice, beef, beans, and corn, then top with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, cheese, sour cream, cilantro, and lime.

Notes

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan, this helps the beef brown instead of steam.
  • Let the beef sit briefly between stirring for better flavor and texture.
  • Add garlic after onions so it doesn’t burn.
  • Simmer spices with the beef to deepen flavor.
  • Layer warm ingredients first and fresh toppings last for best contrast.
