Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ½ cup (120ml) whole milk
  • ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
Flavor Enhancers
  • ½ cup (120ml) hot water or hot coffee (enhances chocolate flavor)
Optional Fudgy Topping
  • ½ cup (90g) dark chocolate, chopped
  • ¼ cup (60ml) heavy cream

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and prepare an 8-inch cake pan
  2. Mix all dry ingredients in one bowl
  3. Whisk wet ingredients in another bowl
  4. Combine wet and dry mixtures, then add hot liquid
  5. Pour batter into pan and bake for 30–35 minutes
  6. Cool and spread chocolate ganache if desired

Notes

  • Use coffee instead of water to deepen chocolate flavor
  • Don’t overmix the batter
  • Always use room temperature ingredients
