Ingredients
  

Dough
  • teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¾ cup warm whole milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
Frying
  • 3–4 cups vegetable oil for frying
Classic Glaze
  • cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast in warm milk with sugar and let foam for 5–10 minutes.
  2. Mix in egg, melted butter, salt, and flour to form dough. Knead until smooth.
  3. Let dough rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Roll dough to ½-inch thickness and cut donut shapes.
  5. Let donuts rise again for 20–30 minutes.
  6. Fry in 350°F oil for 1 minute per side until golden.
  7. Prepare glaze and dip warm donuts. Let glaze set before serving.
