Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup whole milk (room temperature)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chocolate & Finishing
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon flour (for coating chocolate chips)
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sugar for topping Optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 12-cup muffin pan with liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined.
  5. Toss chocolate chips with flour and fold them into the batter.
  6. Fill muffin cups ¾ full, sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top, and bake for 18–20 minutes.
  7. Cool for 5 minutes before transferring muffins to a rack.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to keep muffins soft.
  • Use room-temperature ingredients for smoother batter.
  • Coat chocolate chips with flour to prevent sinking.
  • Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top before baking.
  • Let muffins cool briefly before removing from the pan.
