Ingredients

Rice Base
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Flavor Boost
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1–2 limes)
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest (optional but recommended)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro finely chopped
Optional Enhancements
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for richer flavor)

Method

  1. Rinse rice thoroughly until water runs clear.
  2. Combine rice, water, oil, and salt; bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes.
  4. Let rice rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Fluff rice gently with a fork.
  6. Mix in lime juice, cilantro, and optional zest.
  7. Add optional butter or garlic and stir gently before serving.

Notes

  • Rinsing rice properly ensures a light and fluffy texture instead of sticky grains.
  • Keeping the lid closed during cooking helps maintain consistent heat and steam.
  • Adding lime juice while the rice is warm allows better absorption of flavor.
  • Fluffing with a fork instead of a spoon keeps the grains intact and airy.
  • Adjust cilantro and lime gradually to avoid overpowering the dish.
