Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups old-fashioned rolled oats
Wet Ingredients
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts optional for crunch

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugars, then add egg and vanilla.
  4. Combine dry mixture with wet mixture.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and shape dough balls.
  6. Bake 10–12 minutes until golden.

Notes

  • Use rolled oats for the best chewy texture.
  • Slightly underbake cookies for softer centers.
